Facets Kids Film Camp is a summer program that introduces kids ages 7-14 to the techniques, language, and process of film making. Professional filmmakers and respected critics provide expert instruction in what it takes to understand and create a film. For over 10 years, Facets Kids Film Camp has given children who love movies a chance to understand filmmaking from behind the scenes. Instruction includes:

The basics of filmmaking techniques, including camera angles, shots, lighting, sound recording, acting style, screenwriting, storyboarding, and directing.
A foundation in film vocabulary and criticism.
Dozens of hands-on activities, including storyboarding, screenwriting, acting, writing reviews, and making a movie.

At the end of the summer camp we invite friends and family to a special graduation ceremony featuring the world premiere of the participants’ movies.

FULL-DAY (Ages 11-14): July 8 - July 12, 2013 (FULL - on a WAIT LIST)
9am-5pm (Full day, lunch included)
Cost: $450

FULL-DAY (Ages 7-10): July 15 - July 19, 2013 (FULL - on a WAIT LIST)
9am-5pm (Full day, lunch included)
Cost: $450

HALF-DAY (Ages 11-14 & Ages 7-10): July 22 - August 2, 2013
Ages 11-14: 9am-12:30pm
Ages 7-10: 2pm-5:30pm
Cost: $350

Note: Chicago Public Schools last day is June 24.

10% application fee discount – for siblings of campers already enrolled.
10% application fee discount - for active Patron Circle members.

The Children’s Jury of the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival - Selected campers qualify for the prestigious jury of the country’s largest festival of films for children. Jurors view, critique, and award prizes for the 2012 Festival. By invitation only upon completion of Film Camp.
Facets Film Ambassador Program – Selected Film Camp graduates may represent Facets as official delegates at renowned international children’s film festivals in Italy, Korea, India, and Canada (ages 13-17).
Critical Outlets - Film Camp Alumni contribute movie reviews for publication on the Chicago International Children's Film Festival website, in print, and on television.
