How does history become myth? How does a myth get in the way of the truth? How do myth and history work in tandem to create wonder in film? Who are classic father figures in film? And what are must-see films to pass down to the next generation?

View film trailers and clips to further explore the roles of father figures in classic film genres such as: Western, Science-Fiction/Fantasy, Historical Fiction, Biopics, and Horror.

Working in teams and through interactive exercises, father and child pairs will use their own historical event to craft a film story with mythic overtones.

Dave Canfield is one of the founding members of Twitch Film, the world cinema blog with more than 2,000,000 unique visitors monthly. He is also a long-time member of the Chicago Film Critics Association, as well as a staff member of the Magill’s Cinema Annual film encyclopedia.
