Kids ages 10-15 develop and produce a short film, gaining valuable knowledge and skills in filmmaking fundamentals such as cinematography, screenwriting, directing, and editing.

Facets Family Film Series – Second Saturday Screenings   

Join us this winter and spring for these delightful family films from past editions of the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival. Film screenings are thematic with a 9:30am show for younger audiences and an 11am show for older children or teens. SCHEDULE & TICKETS

Calling all child and youth filmmakers – Have you made a movie? Then consider entering it in the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival. There’s no fee for films made by young people 18 and younger.

Parent-Child Visual Coding Workshop 
Saturday, June 20
10am-12pm (Ages 5-8) 
at Facets (1517 W. Fullerton Ave., Chicago)

Coding starts earlier and earlier – so get the fun started, already! Kick off summer and join teaching artist and animator George Berlin in learning Scratch, Jr., an introductory programming language. Using fun visual characters, your to child will create a brand-new mini-story of your mutual making!

By clicking together graphic programming interlocking “blocks”, your child will create a film character, then put together a basic structured script, based on simple directions he/she chooses to assign. Then – animate the character in a situation you’ve designed together. No typing! Just draw, click, drag.  LEARN MORE & REGISTER

The annual Festival takes place in October & November and is the largest annual festival of films for children ages 2-18 in the world. Programming 250 of the best, new cinema for children’s and young people from 40 countries, the Festival welcomes audiences of 23,000 and features hand-on filmmaking workshops with post-screening Q&A’s with dozens of filmmakers and celebrities. Check out our website in September for the latest on Festival screenings and workshops!
