An introduction for parents and kids! Do you know the meaning of these media vocabulary words?

*Media is cinema, television, video, radio, photography, advertising, newspapers, magazines, recorded music, computer games, and the internet.

Literacy is the ability to read and write.

Media Literacy is a combination of skills that allow people to “read” and “write” media.

Digital means created with a computer or to be used with other technology.

Citizen is a person who is part of a community of shared interests and values.

Digital Citizens are people who use media literacy to communicate with the digital world.

Mass Media is a term used to describe big media business partners who own most media companies.

Independent Media is media that is produced with little help from big media companies or Hollywood.

Foreign Media is media that is created outside of the United States of America.

World or Global Media includes American media and all the media in the world.
