Celebrate traditions as these characters explore their heritage in four short films for kids ages 11-13+.
All films are official selections from the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival, and program includes an introduction and post-screening discussion led by one of our trained media educators. Curriculum aligned with Illinois State Board of Education Learning Standards is also provided to teachers prior to the day of screening.

Hard times don’t get these inspiring characters down, as they embrace their unique identities to overcome the obstacles in their path. Follow young David as he finds out what it means to be Chinese, Dutch and Jewish. In Nazi-occupied Prague, Yann realizes that while he cannot deny where he came from, he must make the decision to move forward. And by listening to his parents, a child learns some surprising things about himself. Sometimes we owe more to our heritage than we realize!
